Home Bound Healthcare, Inc. is a Home Health Agency that was incorporated in September 2004. Our two owners are both Registered Nurses who have a combined nursing experience of over 30 years. They have worked in hospital settings as well as the long term care industry prior to opening their own Home Health Agency. Our Agency has grown since its inception to over 300 full-time and part-time employees, who service our patients' needs throughout the states of Illinois and Iowa, and Nevada.
Our mission is to provide the highest quality of multidisciplinary in-home, health care services. These services are to be provided by competent and ethical staff members who strive to maintain patients' rights, well being and increase quality of life essential to the improvement of their total physical, emotional, and mental condition, while promoting dignity and an independent lifestyle.
Our Agency received its first license from the State (IDPH) in February, 2005. We received our first Medicare Provider ID Number, effective August 9, 2005. Our Agency has grown from one home health office serving four local counties to 6 Illinois home health offices serving 46 counties, including 3 counties in Iowa. Additionally, we have opened a home health agency office in Las Vegas, Nevada serving two local counties. We have had the pleasure to manage over 7,100 patient cases since our licensure was granted. Our patients have overwhelmingly been pleased with the care and quality of service we provide.
Our skilled services include: Skilled Nursing (RN, LPN) Therapies, including: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Respiratory Therapy, Home Health Aide Services, and Medical Social Work. We employ a full staff of Nurses, Therapists, and Social Workers in-house, and contracted therapy services in various locations throughout our 46-county service area, to ensure availability.
In an attempt to broaden our scope of service, and offer our patients a more customized and streamlined home health experience, in January, 2006 Home Bound Healthcare became certified through Medicare as a supplier of Durable Medical Equipment, Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Supplies (DMEPOS). One year later, in January of 2007, we opened our physical Medical Supply storefront located in Melrose Park, IL.
Not only are we committed to a high quality of clinical care, we are as equally committed to the overall integrity of our business. To this end, Home Bound Healthcare has gone through the process to become a member of the Better Business Bureau. We have received the BBB complaint-free certificate for three years running, and have been awarded the highest letter grade of “A” in their new grading system. We also hold a certificate of accreditation from the Home Caregivers Accreditation of America, recently renamed Shield Accreditation.
Of our six Illinois home health agency offices, we hold various certifications from national healthcare accrediting bodies. Three of our offices are certified through the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP). Additionally, our Medical Equipment & Supplies Store is also accredited through CHAP. CHAP is an independent non-profit national accrediting body. Accreditation publicly certifies that our organization has voluntarily met the highest standards of excellence for home and community-based healthcare.
Our offices were among the first Agencies to apply for and receive licensure as Home Service Agencies and Home Nursing Agencies, when the State of Illinois updated its Administrative Code in September 2008. This update includes specific licensure requirements for organizations who provide non-medical home care services such as companion care, elder care, and in-home assisted living services. The new licensure requirements are very good for the consumer, as they ensure that Agencies cannot, simply send a non-qualified caregiver into a client’s home. As licensed agencies Home Bound Healthcare maintains industry standard insurance requirements, performs background checks and reference checks on our employees prior to hire, and provides our employees with specific training before they begin working as a caregiver, as well as further, continued training on an ongoing basis.
Home Bound Healthcare is affiliated with the National Private Duty Association (NPDA), in an effort to offer the highest standards of practice to our clients. This association avails us the opportunity to provide our staff continuing education training with a focus on ethics, and providing gentle, compassionate services including non-medical home care services.
We expanded our scope of services again, in August, 2008 opening an Outpatient Therapy office located in Franklin Park, IL. We currently provide Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapies in our outpatient setting.
Our home health services and medical equipment and supplies accept payment from Medicare, Medicaid, and Insurance companies, as applicable. Our non-skilled private pay services include Homemaker, Companion, and Caregiver services. All of our private pay patients will enjoy the convenience of credit card payment. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.
